so i wrote a letter to A-Rod...well i'm not sending it...i wrote it for my job!!!
Dear A-Rod,
I watched the whole series and noticed that you seemed tired and uninspired. Are you feeling okay? I mean it is the playoffs and the team is looking at you to carry it like you have the whole season. Maybe you need to consult a shrink? No, you already have done that. How is that going for you? Have the New York fans began their chorus of boos or chants of overrated? Don’t worry about them. At least you know that the entire league thinks you have what it takes to be a true Yankee. Okay, maybe I should move on to a subject less touchy. It seems that the playoffs have once again exposed your few weaknesses. Not every player can play big when it matters the most. Take for instance Ryan Howard. His numbers were abysmal in the Phillies opening round loss to the Rockies! Granted he has only played three seasons and gets paid less than one million per year. Not too mention that he isn’t looked at as the game’s best player. Okay, maybe Howard is a wrong comparison. Hey, maybe we can look at Francisco Rodriguez! He shares the same last name! Sure he is a pitcher with a World Series ring and is getting paid only a fourth of your salary, but he gave up a game winning homerun to Manny Ramirez! Sure that ring gives him some validation but it doesn’t mean that you haven’t done anything in the playoffs! Let’s look at this series against the Indians. Batted 4 for 15 with 1 RBI granted you did strike out as many times as you got on base, but let’s not dwell on the negatives. It isn’t completely your fault. Blame could be placed on GM Brian Cashman for expecting a trio of dinosaurs in Pettite, Mussina, and Clemens to save the team in the postseason! People could blame Mr. Steinbrenner for overpaying for players like Jason Giambi! I mean you can’t be expected to be the best player on the Yankees. It’s not like you have won the MVP while with the team! Oh, wait, you have won it. Ah, but it isn’t like you get paid a ridiculous amount! Oh, that’s right; you are the highest paid player in the league. Okay, maybe I have been going at this all wrong. You may not have had a wonderful postseason but you did have an incredible regular season! Hang your hat on that fact if there is absolutely nothing else! Just think of it in these terms: With the regular season that you had, imagine the contract you can get when you opt out of your current contract with the Yankees! Just be sure to opt out of that contract! It’s not like the Yankees won a bunch before you got there! Okay, forget what I just said! Take care of yourself Mr. Rodriguez. When they hand you the MVP trophy try to ignore the critics saying that you “Mysteriously Vanish Playoff time!”
