This is Chris. I've lived here since '67 and grew up in Hawaii Kai, now living in Makiki. I started racing with HIRS in 1993 where I met Tom Bryant. We've become tremendous friends and have worked, travelled and raced together ever since then. Now we run events together along with David Shimokawa and feel we are contributing greatly to the future of Motor Sports in Hawaii. Drift Session, the Super Lap Series and Wheel 2 Wheel events are a lot of work, but have given us a feeling of pride and acheivement. We owe so much to the competitors and helpful staff who are really the ones who make these events a success.
We have a wonderful bunch of unselfish and generous individuals who attend and work our events and feel that we represent a huge (and very positive) segment of the local racing community. I am so proud of the way we all get along and support each other and feel that other organizations could learn a lot by adopting some of the practices and strategies, that we employ on a regular basis, to enhance their own programs.
I have a few cars that I race: My NASCAR Monte Carlo and Z-28 are the result of years of hard work, but I honed my racing skills as a renter from Hawaiii Internantional Racing School under the tutilage of Tom Bryant and the late Shigehito Hirabayashi driving (and crashing a few times) Spec Racers and Formula Mirage racecars (now known as Formula Hawaii).
I look forward to new posts by others who maybe we are less familiar with, so please jump in and write us a little about yourself.
