I guess I forgot to torque on my belt tensioner, and it flew off today in Kapolei...on the way down to the bottom of my engine bay, it slammed into my timing plate...and bent it all to hell. So much, that the timing is HORRIBLE, enough so that my car won't even run...or idle.

I thought I had blown the engine, but I'm really hopeful that it's just the plate, that's the problem. It makes sense, because as soon as the belt and tensioner flew off, my idle went to absolute shiat, and the power steering went out.

So, we removed the entire main pulley, and straightened out the plate...not enough time to finish the job, but I'm hoping that it fixes the problems tomorrow. Crapola.

I'm getting really good at taking this engine apart. :really:

We'll probably do a compression check as well...but I hope it's nothing that bad. It doesn't make sense if it is...SO TORQUE YOUR SHIAT!

Haha...no pix...didn't think of it. Blech. I think FDs are just plain bad luck sometimes...heheh. Nah, but mostly it's just a learning experience I think.

Nopes...not too long at all. We took off the plate, straightened it out, and while we were under the hood, we rerouted all of my coolant hoses, ziptied a few things, and bolted down some others (like my alarm that wasn't connected right).

All in all, we must have done SOMETHING different, because my idle has lowered itself to a much better 800-900rpms and the engine is much smoother. It must have been some of the grounds that weren't tightened or something. The timing is better now after we got it all together and checked.

So it might have actually been a good thing, because now the whole thing is running much better! Sorry I missed the g2g...I drove by around 3:30 and everyone was gone. :(

We were at the racetrack, too. :wtf: All in all, I feel good...thanks additional to Tom for his tools and expertise, as always.
