This will be my first time voting so I'm not a registered voter. I was gonna register as a Democrat but I have to register as a voter with the State of Hawaii first. I'm not sure but the Democratic party's website said I could bring my voter registration application to the voting place then I could vote. I was gonna recheck today but their website is down. I called the Democratic headquarters but their phones are busy. Anyone know?

If thats what the website says, then why should you doubt it?

The caucuses don't have as strict of rules as a general election, since its just up to the Democratic party to decide how they want to do it.
It's a lot of fun, in my opinion. They'll put you at a table with other people from your neighborhood, and its cool to meet them and talk about stuff. In 04, Duke Bainum was at our table, and kept trying to get me to vote for him, and I started talkin shit about the Waikiki beautification project.
Then you guys all write down your votes on a piece of paper, pass them down, and count them all up yourself, then give your table's vote to the officials.

It was 3 in the morning and I was half asleep when I checked the website. I wasn't sure if they were talking about the voter registration application or the Democratic party application.

Plus I had to pick up extra work from my boss so I could vote today....so I won't be happy if I get there to find out I can't vote.

Ikey - I'm going for Obama. I'm not a big fan of Clinton. I think Obama will do more good and change things for the better, IMHO.

Anyone else voting today?

Thanks for the replies....the website is back up.

To answer my own question, you could turn in your voter registration AND democratic party application at the polling site.

hey turbo...this is the gist of things...bring the registration and just fill out the party card at the polling place...make sure you go to the right place!!! if there are any questions ask the person at the front desk...if you live in Ewa I might see you as I will be helping out!!! enjoy the caucus!!!

My polling place was at Moanalua high school and the line was LONG!! I only had an hour for dinner break so I couldn't stay.

Radopps, how was the turn out at Ewa?

aw man, thats weak. you shoulda allowed for more time, and your boss should allow plenty of time for people to vote without any penalty. caucuses are weird and take a long time. its not like walking in and casting a ballot like a normal election. thats why they're often debated, and many states use primaries instead. there's pros and cons to both.
