Well, one of Ferrari's worst kept secrets is finally official.

The Ferrari California (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/13/new-ferrari-california-exposed)

4.3L V8, 460hp, 7-speed dual-clutch semi-auto, front-engine/rear-drive retractable hardtop convertible. It kind of looks like Ferrari's version of an S2000.

a s200 had sex with the last model mr2/mrs then they tried to give it up for adoption, ferrari felt bad and took it up but took it to train with dar hence the nice motor, then it was sent out to the hood and thats why it has some bling in its grill

they're not as appealing to me either. i like how evil the 599 is when you try to throw it around on the track, but the looks are too plane for me. only new one i really have an eye for would be the novitec f430 tunero, twin supercharged and only comes in flat black ftw

I'm a little surprised to see Ferrari jumping on the retro bandwagon. Then again, a single Ferrari has more heritage in one headlight than a lot of cars have in an entire factory, so I guess it makes some sense.

They're saying the replacement for the F430 (Ferrari's $200K entry-level model) is going to be considerably more advanced and expensive, so Ferrari needed a new entry-level car. I'll bet this car will be shockingly expensive. I'm guessing at least $160K. Hey, if it wasn't ridiculously overpriced, it wouldn't be a Ferrari.

The retro look is nice, to a point, but to me, the name "Ferrari" only brings up three images to my mind that get my pulse racing.

Call me nostalgic, but all the other ones, as nice as they look, pretty much the same, doorstop, Italian shoe look deals. But I'm not a Ferrari purist, just a spectator.:5eek: I like the look of the 250GT more.

How cute, it's the poor man's 612 Scaglietti :p Aren't they coming out with another vehicle as well? Some super featherweight with 600 horsepower?

EDIT: it's called the millechili. Car and Driver magazine has a great picture (rendering) but I can't find it anywhere online. Think F430 curves with F60 styling. Anyway it weighs 2200 with a 600 HP V10... scary.

btw, one thing i dont get about the S2k...why does it have LIFT on the back end? how come they never designed it for any high speeds? if its a track car, it should be able to push its ass to the ground, i thought..

i read on a mag that the s2k's rear end has 100kilos of lift at 100mph... thats scary!

Naturally, I made the connection and introduced myself as 'zff'. I told him about the meet and invited him to drop by to look at the cars.

We talked for a bit, and it turns out 20 years ago during his Eurosport days, he installed a NOS system in my Celica. He remembered it vividly. Small world.

wow, 20 years ago!! this world is small too... he use to race scca with my uncle at the stadium back in the 80's, and i worked at sonic which was run by eric, dexters old coworker.

Another new Ferrari model, the Scuderia Spider 16M. It's a convertible version of the F430 Scuderia, basically. A little contradictory, but what the hell.
