Not sure if this is still going on, but I came across this post on Toyota's blog (after noticing this on FH). Looks pretty important with the pictures of the rust damage associated with it. Bascially, if you own a 1995 - 2000 Tacoma, you may be able to take it to Toyota and have it inspected for frame damage. They will either repair the damage or purchase the vehicle regardless of current condition. Just wanted to let HTers know about this problem.

check out this quote
Oh- and it seems Toyota dealers have known about this for over a month now- so I am sure dealer employees or friends of dealer employees have already been scouring the country for crappy Tacos to sell back to Toyota. Good luck finding one now.
hmm. I wonder how true that is.

perhaps japan really doesn't make the best cars
maybe they just make cars like everyone else. Some good some so so.

well Toyota needs to save their image(hype) on this one to keep raking in the dough
It is good to see them own up and do whats right

On a side note, almost all cars are built by robots. So what makes a car not as good as its competitor?

Answer: The buyers and the Service Satisfaction Questionaire. more on that as when I get back home.

Thats a lot of rust.

Toyota's always rust, you just need to keep it under control.

Hmm, is that why I had an availability check for a Tacoma frame ?
