REH and dkmini:
I'm willing to host a OMB Natsukashi Party at my place:groupchat: , I need the motivation to get off my lazy ass and clean my place up a bit.
I'll cook up some yakisoba and provide the entertainment. BYOB:cheers: .
Pretty much any Friday or Saturday works for me, so if you're interested figure out a good day when both of ya can be here (I live in Aiea). Once we determine the date/time, other HT'ers are welcome. Just keep in mind all of the music and videos will be in Japanese.
Note: No way I can make my place safe for a child, so please plan accordingly. I have too many sharp objects, tools, car parts, and bike parts lying around to be able to guarantee a safe environment.

Let's make it a Friday night! :) I wanna be there! (please)
As long as "Natsukashi" isn't a nice way of saying "Introduce Andy to the Pleasures of Bukkake", then I'm cool :D I've had a lot of fun hangin out with you guys so far - would love to hear the old OMB stories! ...and see that mysterious Middle School yearbook that was mentioned at D&B today. ;)

You guys just want to see what I looked like with long hair...
Latka, "natsukashi" means "bringing back up old memories"
I can't speak for dkmini, but there are no "bukkake" memories in my past so you should be safe.

Friday, 21 April works for me.:alc:
We need to check with REH, though. His presence is critical. Unless he doesn't want to hang out.
Also, I'll invite my buddy Kalani, my fellow YOHI gearhead:wavey: . He's the guy that talked me into Solo2 at HRP, but then his job had him off island so much he could not race:tear: . He has a blue Impreza 2.5, pre-WRX type (1999 model, I think), used to compete in STS.

I'll pencil in the 21st then. Let the BS flow :)
I just saw this post too. I don't know about somebody else, but sometimes when I hit "New Posts" not all the new posts come up, Mike?
I'm down for a get together. Is this a guy thing only?
Kamakura kid
04-10-2006, 09:25 AM
Nope, not a guy only thing. Wives, S.O.' s welcomed.
As far as kids go, well, tell you what. What I'll do is try and put all the dangerous stuff into my bedroom or spare room and close/block the door. Please understand I don't have any kids of my own, so child safety has never been a consideration for me. You have been cautioned.
Does April 21 work for everyone? Doesn't have to be a night thing, either.

I know I asked you Sunday at the rally, but just to confirm. 21st works for you, right? Works for REH, so I'm gonna plan for the 21st.
For all attending: please PM your car model and plate# so I can make a list for security. Guest parking fills up on Fridays, so come early if you can.
I'm starting at 3PM...
Directions/address will be PM'ed to attendees.

No majinga Z, but I have the entire Captain Harlock TV series and the movie Arcadia of my Youth. Unless my all region DVD player comes back from repair, though, we'll have to watch on my computer.
I have all 6 of the original 5 Yamato movies. Confused? Well, there are two versions of the second movie. The theater version and the TV movie version have very different endings.
And Galaxy Express 999 movie. Just the first one, never cottoned to the second one.
Yamato and GE999 can be played on my TV.
However, somehow I get this feeling we'll gravitate to the Drifters and Miniskiirt Police comedy shows. MP is about race queens and cars, so it fits our gearhead theme.
Hey Bill...Thanks for the invite. I'll let you know if I can make it on the 21st.

Yeah, be neat if you can make it Kalani. We'll have to play that one Queen song for old times sake. I'll let you explain...LOL
Well, I just got done vetting the VHS tapes for the occasion, making sure they weren't recorded over hard core Japanese XXX movies with remnants of the original footage remaining. Unfortunately, they all checked out OK:sadpace: .
Right now, I'm reviewing the Moritaka Chisato concert LD's. MAN OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN. I'd forgotten how extremely hot this late eighties "wanrenbodicon" poster child was:lila: .
In case you're wondering, that Japanese slang word stands for: one length (straight permed) hair, body conscious attire. :wavey: This was the fad for Japanese girls back then.

Hmmm, Latka sent me a PM with the same questions, and I just responded. But, its about time I posted some details anyway, so...
If anyone wants to bring some stuff to eat or drink, that would be most welcomed. What would be neat is a large cooler we can keep drinks and ice in. All I have are two tiny coolers I take to the track with me, no good for a party.
I'll put out some Japanese snacks and for main course I will make yakisoba. I will provide soft drinks (mostly diet) and bottled water. If you want something stronger, BYOB. I just don't want to be stuck with a refrigerator full of leftover high test sodas and beer 'cuz I'd be tempted to finish them off later by myself. Many sorries.
For dessert I am planning on getting a cake.
No smoking in my flat, but I'll set up a couple chairs on the lanai for those that want to indulge.
Wear loose comfy clothing. I don't have enough chairs to go around, so some of us will be seated on the floor.
I don't know what everyone's work schedule is, but me being gainfully unemployed, I'm going to start things rolling around 3PM. Hopefully some of you can make it around then, but just get here when you can. I have to shut the entertainment system down at 10PM but we can still talk and stuff after that.
Directions will be PM'ed to those that have said they will participate, but for planning purposes I live about a 5 minute drive from PearlRidge Mall.
So far I have attending REH plus 2, Latka (any pluses?), dkmini (any pluses?), kilikopela plus 1 and AAX (any pluses?). Possibly my YoHi classmate Kalani plus his wife.

Just to clarify: please do NOT feel like you have to bring something. I usually overstock for these sorts of things anyway.
Latka: if you find that big cooler, give me a call when you park. I have a flatbed cart we can use to roll it on, it's quite a hike to my place if you're lugging something heavy.
I could think of no way to tie it in, but I like this smiley::urlaub:

I have to pick my daughter up at school and take her someplace before dropping her off at the grandfolks; therefore, for fear of food rotting, I'll be bringing a 24 pack of Gordon B. beer (I figure I can have one or two and Tom will attack the rest  hehe).
KK, I'll PM you my car info. Looks like I'll be going solo.
[Edit : if you do need more food though let me know, and I'll stop by someplace and pick something up]

I'll be going solo. I did find the cooler, it's a big 'un so it should be good for us. I'll make sure to put ice and salt in it so we can get the ultra-quick-geek cooling on the beer and stuff. I have I think a 12pack of some Becks Oktoberfest that I'll bring along.
Going to try to get the '66 Mini Cooper S S the tuneup it needs between now and then - if I do I'll send you that vehicle info. Most likely I'll bring the car I told 'ya about.
Lookin forward to it!

No worries about changing vehicles, just takes a bit more time at the gate. The important info is your name.
Thanks for thinking of me DK, but I'm driving the family around so I don't think I'll be able to finish it off...Chris M. can do it for me...hell, let's get Mike drunk, he needs to unleash.

Yeah, yeah, in those days so long ago, the Tokyo area had a big paper shortage and the rationing trickled to the base. We were not allowed waste paper on things like yearbooks, textbooks, tests, etc.

04-20-2006, 08:41 PM
Pffft! Worthless and weak! That toilet paper scare was several years before we graduated. Besides, most yearbooks were printed by Stateside companies anyway.
I still don't believe you. Must have been a REAL good picture of you.
However, since you are providing the Cathy books, all is forgiven. We'd rather look at pictures of her than pictures of you anyway.
Man, okay let's see...I need to bring the Kathy books, OK, then the year book, got it...and the...what else? Hey Bill, you got a working VCR?

I thought you'd catch-on when I referenced yearbooks, textbooks, AND tests but I guess I should gave the winky eye.
[Edit : BTW, I am not providing the Cathy books, Tom is (they're his now).]

Never made it past "yearbook" before I decided to raise the BS flag. Serves me right for not reading the whole sentence first.
You don't remember the TP shortage? Actually it was more of a panic than an actual shortage. That was not BS. Man, they even had rationing on base in order that people wouldn't black market it out in town. I think it was right after the '73 oil shortage. It had to be before 1976, because I associate the TP panic with the "old" NEX which was a small building in front of the school. T'was 76 when the NEX shifted to the huge hanger-like building its in today.

KK,
Wow, I'm not that old! You're talking '73~'76 and we graduated in '81. :wtf: But now I know why I don't remember that TP scare you are talking about - we were in NY and CA from late 73 through early 77.

Nice to meet you too, Kitty.
Yeah, I'm kind of bummed about having to leave, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Can't afford to stay here and go to grad school.
Hawaii is the first place where I have made so many new friends. Having been in the Navy, life for me has been a cycle of two year (or shorter) stays in widely separated locations. Not to mention being underway half the time, too. I was really fortunate to be able to stay here for four years, and not be on a ship, either.
Well, I'm pretty sure I'll be back someday. Who knows, REH, maybe I'll be one of your instructors at the Hawaii WCF Racing School. I may not be too fast but I can speak fluent Japanese.
Can someone tell me what time it is?

I have a friend named Gary. When I introduce him to Japanese people his name would be pronounced "geri". It's a good thing I didn't teach him to introduce himself in japanese. Can you image?: watashi wa geri desu. By the way for those that don't know, geri means "the runs". Hi, I have the runs!

Had a couple good ones on USS Firstship, homeported in Sasebo, Japan. One of my sailors was Mexican, his last name was Baca. "watashi wa baka desu" (baka means stupid in Japanese, therefore "I am stupid.")
One of my fellow officers was nicknamed Bobo. We would introduce him to girls using his nickname and they would ROFL. They would never tell us why, though. One day I finally got my girlfriend to fess up why, turns out "obobo" is Sasebo dialect for "omanko." (omanko refers to a girl's naughty bits)
However, the worst name of all time has got to be this one poor girl that was a sailor on one of the Yokosuka ships. She was an E-3 in the Navy and her last name was "Swallow."
