...it looks like it fell into the ugly fire and they put the flames out with sledgehammers ? I guess Clarkson didn't take too well with the design. :really:

I agree with Clarkson on this one. The only thing thats appealing about the GTR is the lap times around nurburgring. Looks would be the last thing I would buy this car for.

The gt-R is a rich man's evo... where it will keep you on point, no matter what.
When i first got the evo, it seemed there was no turn I couldn't maneuver no matter how fast I was going.. it was amazing... till I finally found the edge. unfortunately, there was no progression like in other cars I've driven, just hanging on, then boom. spinout.
yeah, i went a little high, and hit some gravel on the edge, so it's not the cars fault, but I finally glad I found the edge. sometimes you need to feel that edge to truly enjoy the ride, and respect the capabilities of the vehicle.
also, I miss smoky burnouts.

"it still cant arouse my wedding vegetables" lol.
i still want one though. i'd void that *****es warranty getting out of the lot and i'd drive it nekkid
I can see what Clarkson means. I'm by no means any kind of accomplished driver, but having put in thousands of miles in both my Ferrari 308 and Acura NSX, I can totally relate to what he's saying.
My NSX is in every way the better car. It's more powerful, has a better torque curve, more grip, more predictable handling, way better brakes, is more comfortable, easier to drive, more reliable and even gets better mileage. But my Ferrari is WAY more fun to drive.
The NSX is faster, but the Ferrari is more of a thrill.

just come to autox and you can find those limits at every corner without risk of damaging the car. or yourself.

Exactly! Technology is great as it makes the car faster, but it makes the driver think they are that good. At our driving schools, we had people in M3s, Porsches and Corvettes with all the technological doo dads and they were fast. Throw them in my old track car without power steering any of that stuff, and they were lost. Instructor buddies of mine would say technology made C group drivers into B group drivers.

That was how I felt when I drove Vern's car on sunday. It was a very crude no power anything with maybe 90hp to the wheels. But wow, that car is such a thrill to drive around a course that it frankly made me not want to drive the course in my car again haha! Feeling the G's, your arms wrestling the steering wheel, all that stuff that's completely absent in my car. What a thrill I must say.
It is not crude, it is raw. :D

Being a "youngin" myself, I must say that a lot of people in the "playstation" generation of cars is missing out on old fashioned raw cars. I haven't had much opportunities to drive older raw vehicles but the one that I did drive sure had a lot of "character".
It was a 1984 Mazda B series pick up. It wasn't fast, it wasn't comfortable, nothing was power assisted, the clutch was heavy, and the gas pedal worked like an on/off switch...yet, it was one of the most enjoyable cars I have ever driven.
I'd like to take an old porsche 911 out for a spin one day. Must be a hell of a drive.

Hmm, what confuses me is, wasn't he praising the the GTR on the track in Japan where the lawnmower dude had to help him? I have to admit that the GTR has way too much electronics, but it was built to compete with the super cars on a budget. I don't remember where I read it, but the GTR was created with 2 things in mind, for the price to be under 100k and to have it compete with some of the fastest production cars.
In any case, I came across this which was pretty cool. It's a drag race between the GTR, ZR1, Ferrari 599 GTB, and Porsche GT2:
