From when they were activated by strobes I think people have been changing lights. It's pretty selfish actually...and stupid. Some lights change very quickly - I guess the only saving grace is that you might get T-boned by someone coming that didn't have time to stop for your "emergency".

It sucks though... they're going to force those companies to have to start using encoded signals and crap - just because they thought it would be a good idea to change the light in their favor.

"Ambulance Surfing" was quite a popular sport though back in San Diego when I was there. As long as you're staying back the required distance (500'?) and not speeding, it's all good... clear salin'. :)
