Yee gawdz! :mouth_water:

It's old content though...alot of it has changed apparently, espescially the graphics regarding the character models, buildings, ground textures...check out the website at www.armedassault.com. The first one minute is basically all from the first game, Operation Flashpoint...the rest, is the new game, Armed Assault. Excuse the voice-over, it's a Czech-based game developer.

78MB Video:

Being a Combat Arms Instructor for 10 years, Operation Flashpoint was one of the most realistic games that I'd ever played...the fact that you had to use iron sights to really good a good aim on people just floored me...and using all the weapons including the M72GL, the M203...the detail put into the equipment use, the huge size of the maps, and the variety of the weapons and the fact that it's lifelike that the military uses it for actual combat training...well...it was the best game ever. Now it's being upgraded with better graphics, and improvements. I can't wait. Me and my AF buddies used to play this religously, it was that good. Quake/Doom, this is not. This is about as real as it gets...

One example of a mission, would be rallying at the Chinook, jumping in, then being flown to the drop spot...doing a hot landing zone, coming under fire, with bullets wizzing around you, while the chinook gunner lays down cover fire, and your squad runs for cover...then, having to use a compass and your map, and find your way to your objective, engaging entire squads, patrols and tanks all along the way, clearing towns, then moving onto the next objective, one by one, until you're helo'd outta there by the same chinook that dropped you off. The detail in the games are incredible.

If you really want to play a realistic game, then this is it...one shot, you could be dead if hit in the right place. Watch the video...it's amazing.

And a few new pics from April 16th! They're huge...so I'm just going to link them...the sheer scale in the photos is incredible.

Another Armed Assault video just released...in Czech. The helicopter stuff at the end is kinda neat...the hover effects are nice. Kinda crappy video quality, hard to make out everything, but it looks great so far.

Along with 4 new screenshots, the helicopter modeling is exquisite:

This sounds great:

FiringSquad: What can you tell us about some of the more unique features from this game that will make it stand out from the crowd?

Paul R. Statham: One of the first things to stand out about ArmA, especially for the gamer who sits playing it, is the size and scale and openness. In most modern shooters you're never really free to follow your own path, you're funnelled along down a narrow street or ravine, forced to move from A to B to C. In ArmA that's not the case, the island of Sahrani is 400kmē (250 milesē), once the mission has loaded the whole island is available, you can go anywhere, do anything, use anything you find, finish the mission fast, take it slow, explore, anything you like, the only limit to how you complete the mission is really up to your tactical preference.
The other elements where ArmA stands out from the crowded genre it gets placed in is the layers of realism and strategy that the engine and its features provides, things such as: Multiple gunner positions on vehicles.
HDR lighting, if you stare at the sun you damage your eyesight, common sense really! Simulated weapon recoil, the more powerful the weapon, the more powerful the kick. Bullet kinetic energy, different bullets travel varying distances and the damage they do is affected by distance/ricochet etc. Ambient world, insects and animals move around, adding life and distraction to the world, trees and flora moves in the wind or chopper downwash. Enhanced AI, friend or foe, they think smart, act smarter, don't be surprised to feel like you're the dummy in this war!

Probably the website to watch for more information on this game
