Hey all,

Any suggestions on local camera stores that might be good ideas for sponsorship deal for the Photography section? I contacted Kaimuki Camera, but they didn't even give me the time of day...I want to try and improve this place a bit, by getting a business that knows what's going on behind it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I think kaimuki is the only locally owned store on the island. Francis camera closed down.

Didn't there used to be a Ritz Camera in town? I think there's a camera shop in Kahala Mall also, dunno what they're called.

You might want to hit up local photogs as well, maybe they would like some exposure (if they do weddings, graduations, special events, etc...).

As far as actually getting good deals on equipment, etc... I would guess that it would be hard for them to compete with the internet for pricing, though.

Yes, ritz camera is in ala moana (and a few small stores like in waikiki, kahala mall, etc). but its a national chain, I doubt they would have any interest in a local board.

great idea though. maybe try compusa. Out of all the big name electronics stores they are the most down to earth and willing to work with local groups. Its not specifically related to photography but maybe they could sponsor the electronics section or both.

I appreciate the suggestion...I'm just looking for a way to make it a nice place for everyone. Thanks!

The Kaimuki folks are nice, but man their prices are high. Not as high as the Francis Camera snotty store, but almost. The few times I went into Francis it was like walking into some high-end car dealership. Not by the products...but by the "oh, you obviously don't have any money" attitude of the jackasses that worked there. They got all offended when I pointed out that their price on the Canon 100-400mm IS "L" lens was *way* over what one could find it for online.

Oh well. So much for supporting a local business. :(
