If the critics hated it, that probably means I'll love it.

Early critics seemed happy to try to break "The Da Vinci Code."
Reaction ranged from halfhearted admiration to boredom to derision among journalists at the first press screening of the Ron Howard-Tom Hanks blockbuster in waiting, premiering Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival and opening worldwide through Friday.
"'Da Vinci' never rises to the level of a guilty pleasure. Too much guilt. Not enough pleasure," wrote critic Kirk Honeycutt in the trade paper The Hollywood Reporter.

Same here. Critics like artsy farsty movies, ones that push an agenda such as Brokeback Mountain, or ones that try to teach us somethng. Well, I'm not going to a theater for enlightenment, that's what libraries are for. When I go to a theater, I just want entertainment.
For example, I find extreme close ups of Milla Jovovich's bare abdomen to be highly entertaining.
Have no desire to see two guys in a liplock.
I'm sure the "Code" will be a great movie.

...because it's critical of the Cathoilic Church, that's why! At least that's my atheist theory. ;)

It's not my gig either, but hey - whatever makes ya happy I say. Who the hell am I to tell another human what they do is wrong as long as it's not hurtin' someone else?
I'm all excited to see DVC. The opening scenes especially - well, that and the bank...and the struggle at the dude's castle-like place...and...and... well, pretty much everything!

I have a feeling a few movie theaters are gonna have a few fanatics getting into trouble for some crazy stuff, this weekend.
I don't doubt someone's gonna get hurt over this.

I'm catholic but i think that those who are wasting time protesting this movie and protesting tom hanks and the cast are fkn ridiculous..people its a movie based on a fictional book ...whether the church really has something to hide would be intersting to find out but then again..who cares? the past is done...i look forward to this movie..i kinda hope i see some nut trying to get all crazy that would be hilarious to see

I watched quite a few specials on the Discovery channel, as this is Da Vinci Code week...and every one of them pretty much showed that alota it was purely fictional. It's a fictional book, but it attacks the core of what the Church is...and that makes people nervous.

There are jackasses on both sides of the coin that like to wrap their fanatisism (sp?) in religion. That's the part that really scares me. People killing one another in the name of their god.

Yup, religion is a shield and a sword.
Which is why I like the Tachikawa sect of Tantric Buddhism. :mf_boff: :do_it: Too bad they were outlawed, though.
BTW, over on FH, DVC is getting good reviews.
Speaking of religion, please see my thread titled "Holy Stuff" in the adult side.

Ahhh...really? Good to hear, my wife is giving me grief on not spending a ton of time with her....so I drug her to the R/C races at Hobby-X, and she ended up sleeping in the car. :wtf:
I think this means I'm going to have to take her to the movies instead, tomorrow. :|

AAX: I only had a brief experience with matrimony, but one of the things I learned was that when a wife complians about you not spending enough time with her, she really means you are not spending enough time with her while doing the stuff she wants to do.
Davinci code was excellent.
For a book to movie. I think it followed the story line very well.. some things were missing here and there.. but overall it was a great movie. I think they are improving the quality of the book to movies.. Before they would leave chunks of info out of the movie..
The last one that I thought Was SUPER HORRIBLE was hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. I actually enjoyed the read.. but the Movie sucked!!!:spank:

haha this is a very true statement... maybe not necessarily doing just things she wants to do..but definately spending quality time isn't about doing things you like to do which she's not into... yeah we women are attention junkies :tired:
