Doesn't look too stringent, but I'd hate to be the first time buyers. The bugs will probably be huge.

Guess I better start saving for my new box. I say about 2k should do it. This current box cost me about 1400.

Yeah...I've currently got a 3GH HT P4 with a Radeon X1900XTX video card, and 2GBs of ram, upgradeable to 4...so I think I'll be alright if I decide to switch over, but honestly, I don't forsee myself doing that immediately. I'll probably just wait till I build another box.

I'll probably just wait till I build another box.Let's see this is my current box setup:

Asus P4C800 Deluxe
P4 3.4Ghz Northwood
1GB Ram
2 160GB SATA Drives in Raid0
1 250GB Drive
1 160GB Drive
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Pro sound card
ATI All in wonder 9800 video card.
Sony DVD/CD Rom
Sony DVDRW/CDRW

This should be well enough to run vista, but I'll probably build a new 64bit box to run Vista, and turn this current box to a freebsd or linux box.

Your hard drive scenario sounds exactly like mine...why so many hard drives? Mines all for video editing. :D

I have an ATI 9800 in my second box. Great card!

You know...you could always admit that you have over 450G of porn. People will understand. :porno:

So what processor you going to utilize in your next box? I was thinking for my next box a dual or even a quad xeon setup (doubt the quad).

Man...I'm so outta it right now, I have to really do my homework to catch up on everything. The past year, I've just totally stepped back outta the computer realm. I had to do a ton of research just to catch up with the video cards when I bought my last one.

If anything, I do want to transition to dual, simply because it would really help the applications that I use out.

Either pr0n or warez. :)

I know what you mean, Mike. I'm so far out of the computer loop I had no idea that they came out with serial ATA drives (which are way *****in cool).
