It looks like the Thunderbirds are going to be here for a show in 5 months (Sept 15), and the Blue Angels are going to be here less than a month after that (Oct 13-14). I'll probably go to both, but if you could only go to one, which would you pick?

Blue Angels, hands down. At least they remember to reset the altimeter to the current field barometric pressure. ;)

That being said, I'm going to see both of 'em. The Thunderturds...err...Thunderchickens...err...sorry bout that - Thunderbirds are going to fly over Waikiki like they did in (95?). BAs will be at Kaneohe again for the Military show on Friday, and then public shows on Saturday / Sunday. You can also catch 'em practicing on Wednesday / Thursday. I believe they fly in on Tuesdays... so lots of jet action that's for sure! Hopefully since this'll be the second K-bay airshow in a few years they'll have another good static display + flight demos. Part of the problem of us being out here so far from the Mainland is that it's hard to get jets to come fly for us! :(

+1 for the Blue Angels.

Whenever they do San Francisco Fleet Week, they (winds permitting) launch off a carrier steaming under the Golden Gate Bridge, then do the show on top of that. AWESOME!!!!!

Blues for sure, but damn too bad the their schedule was scrapped this year due to unfortunate events. I haven't seen them in four years.

They scrapped the season? Damn :( I was hoping they'd get whomever flew that slot from last year to drop back into it.

KK - they do a cat launch? Now THAT is cool!

Checked around and it looks like only the next week or two is cancelled for the Blue Angles - they're still scheduled to come out here this fall. :headbang2:

Yeah, SF Bay (Golden Gate) is one of very few places where the carrier can go fast enough, and have good wind conditions, yet still be close enough to land so that spectators can see the launch.

Sure wouldn't be able to do it coming into Pearl Harbor, that's for sure. Maybe off Sandy's Beach? But then spectators won't be able to see the show itself.

Just saw the Blue Angels perform at Miramar earlier this year--absolutely breathtaking is the only way to discribe it! I've never seen the Thunderbirds perform, so I can't comment on them at all, but I plan on watching them this year when they come to Hickam, as well as the BA when they perform at K-Bay later this year. The kids will be thrilled to be able to watch both teams fly. My son is into airplanes and jets at the moment, so it should be a pretty cool thing for a 5yr old to see. :plane:

Found this site with the schedules for this year: http://www.airshow.com/
