Story behind this clip and I didn't even need to read into it to spot it. Recruits at Marine Corps Boot Camp have to stand watch to alert everyone when someone walks on deck (in their squadbay's). Especially when it's another Drill Instructor or let alone an Marine Officer.

This recruit delayed in sounding off when (what appears to be) an Officer walking on deck.

The reaction of his Drill Instructos is priceless. Latka this one is for you!

Damn! These vids bring back so much memories mcrd. I had 4 drill instructors in my series, 1 Gunny, 1 SSgt, and 2 Sgts. Gunny was cool, the rest were pricks (as they should be). Gunny and the rest of the drill instructors had a bet to see if I would qualify on the rifle range, hell I even had to take extra classes (forgot what they were called). Gunny won his bet, I qual'ed a sharpshooter (didn't want no toliet bowl).

Till this day, I still remember Senior Drill Instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Wheatley.

If my body didn't give out on Mt. Mother****er, I would have made it to the fleet.

Heheh...Marines like to scream alot, huh? :gapteeth:

We got similar experiences, but of course, we only had one or two TIs hitting us up. It's surprising to see kinda how similary the basic trainings are, except for the fact that we didn't have to go on 4 mile long ruck sack marches...heheh.

USAF was a walk in the park...for the most part. It didnt' get good until I became Combat Arms.

Most series only had 3, lucky us had 4. Imagine waking up to a Drill Instructor in each corner of our barracks yelling and screaming...and getting on deck in less than 20 seconds from bed *whew* And yes, I had my fair share of all 4 DI's in my face. Been called everything from a pineapple head to a Hawaiian.

I didn't injure myself on a hump. It was the martial arts course. But the mentality depicted in that clip is the same mentality that landed me in the situation that I'm in now.

Bwhahahaha... oh my god, Ox. You know what's funny? I went through boot camp starting on November 5th, 1990. I can still remember parts of it like it was frickin YESTERDAY. Hahaha. :)

Whenever someone tries to yell at me now I tell them, "Give it your best shot. I am a former Marine, so I've been yelled at by the best."

:D

Oh - hahaha...and you havent' truly lived until you've been caught talking German to another recruit.

"Nazis up."
"NAZIS UP AYE AYE SIR!"
Bhahahaha... not exactly "politically correct", but we then had to drop whatever we were doing and give our best "Sieg Heil!" 400 times or until the Drill Instructors were satisfied. Of course usually followed by 10 or 15 minutes of "Physical Incentive Training" because they were "disgusted with our nazi asses" hahahahahhahaha. Man what a mind game. Hillarious now, but not so funny when we were going through it.

ROFL hahahahahhahahahahha Nazis Up.............ROFL!:hilarious:

What was politically correct in boot camp? We had an Iranian dude in my platoon. Oh man the names they had for him. One Drill Instructor went along the lines of accusing the Iranian recruit of trying to kill his buddy druing the gulf war. The same Drill Instructor who started to say derogatory things about the recruits girlfirends or wives when they came for family day. He's the same one who grabbed me from the shower by my neck and threw me across the floor into the squadbay because I was the last one out.

Didn't help that I was a decent shot either. I shot a 242 for my first qual in the USMC (never did that again - did a 240 but never got the mystical 245!)...or was it 250? Anyway - shot really well in boot camp. Drill Instructor says to me on Qual Day, "Hey boy. I lost money on you today. I know why you didn't win the company qual (850 guys). You saved a round so you can pop the Drill Instructor on the way back to the barracks, didn't ya?" Oh man...I lost it and started laughing. Mind you by this time we're at the end of 2nd phase and Robin Williams could tell me a joke and I wouldn't lose my bearing...but whooooaaaa mama did I think that was funny. Yeah, I spent the next 10 minutes with a mouth full of dirt. Got to go "fishing" too. Remember that one? Holding the rifle out parallel to the deck by the goddamn flash suppressor. Yeah, good times. Then enduring the taunts about how a (9lb?) rifle was kicking my ass. Hahahahah. The other fun "rifle' PIT was when they'd make you hold it out in front of you and balance it off of the bayonet lug. EEECH that hurt.

Nazis up! Hahahah... and then 83 guys would sound off.

I remember in basic, we was shooting M-60's night fire. Some drill instructor said while I was firing, "Why the fu ck are you firing at the ground, shoot at the target," then a few seconds later he said, "Dammit, wtf are you doing shooting at the moon, target dammit."

Dude during the rifle range I walked up to one of the coaches and asked what time it was. I dunno why but I did. Let's leave it at that you can figure what happened next.

and OUCH the bayonet lug, that f*cker did hurt. Funny how you think about it now how 9lbs can kick your ass.

I have much respect for those of you who posted in this thread who served before me. Thank each of you for what you do. Including SGT_Ox's father.

My boot camp experience was a total joke compared to that (FT. Jackson), I can't even compare that.

mmmm. i feel the same way... i have the utmost respect to those who actually 'retired' from having to serve 20+, 30 years or so.... i also have similar respect to those that are on active duty right now... may God bless the men & women (& their families) that have served (and/or is serving)!!! :patriot: that is all.

until we went back up on the other side. not as steep but even longer. :eek3:

oh man you reminded me of one of the guys in my platoon that fell on his face while climbing Mt. Motherf*cker. I had turned around and watched this dude lay on his belly while reaching out for the Corpsman who came to his call.

I guess the most hilarious part was when we were on our down time and the DI's called us all outside and had this guy re-inact his calling out to the DOC scene while they had him in full gear laying face first in some mud. It was funny but not so funny having us stand outside in our skivvies while it was raining.

idiosyncratic
06-19-2007, 02:49 PM
i can actually visualize that :eek3:... they (the DI's) must just think of ways just to mess with us on our downtime.
1st DI: how about we do this *insert messed up idea*?
2nd DI: how about we do that *insert another messed up idea*?
3rd DI: lol. yeah sounds good, but how about we do *this other messed up idea*?
Senior DI: i really liked them all... let's see how many of them we can do before their training resumes.
(dialog cleaned up in order to keep PG rating. :imu2:)
it's either that or i swear they compare notes & choose the most f***-up one... :pissed:

This thread is Hilarious.

I thought basic was ok. There were times that I got screwed over pretty hard. All the National Gaurd recruits got caught on the phone by the Clothing and sales by their Drill Seargent... I was running around my battalion doing remedial PT when they brought me back and smoked the company for a solid 4 hours. Drill seargents took turns smoking a different part of the body.. one of the worse experiences I had. My legs hurt so bad I was crying involutarily.. and my buddies had to help carry me up the stairs.

What's really sad is that I heard recruits now have stress cards. Army.
