I have a 2001 Silverado, which has OEM 265/75/R16. I am looking at installing a set of 285/55/R20, which are OEM takeoffs from a 2007 Silverado/Tahoe. Is a recon required for this ?

yeah. check the door jamb. regardless if it's the same model...it's a different year and different OEM stock size.

2". stock is 15", tl type-s is 17".

Chances are if you are using OE wheels, you will NEVER be stopped.

Technically, it requires recon... so, ball in your court...

Still trying to resolve my TPMS issues BEFORE I go see recon...

That's good to hear. I tried getting recon about a decade ago and it was a huge headache, don't wanna do through that again!

wasn't recon harder to obtain ten years ago with the need of affidavits, etc? i'm rather new to the whole "reconstructed vehicle" thing as i've only recently modified my car. but with the recon interview that crj431 did and everyone else's help on the forums, my car passed with no problems. is it easier nowadays? (i've only lived here for 7 years and for the past 5 i've drove a tercel)

Yeah, the affidavit things was a huge pain, and didn't make much sense... maybe one day i'll try get recon again if i need to, but the recon needing car doesn't really leave my house.

I drove under the radar for years... and Lois will tell you.. MOST of my rides dont need RECON anyway... only that new truck with the blingy wheels...

Just found out: 07 Tahoe factory (polished) 20's w/tires (Bridgestones) = $1600 still has the TPM sensors on them too...
