Finally Official

Finally my pay raise got approved from 8.50 to 11.65. About damn time...I had to inspect my pay stubs for a whole month to make sure my payrate was manually entered. Now it's official...yay...and once it goes up, they can't lower it back down.
On another note, the store manager is thinking of throwing me in the dairy department and make me in charge. Of course there is a pay raise to 15.51 and lots and lots of overtime. Only thing though, dairy in most grocery stores has the highest gross margin...in otherwords it's one of the most watched and monitored departments.
Should I take this "position?" Hmmm.

Re: Finally Official
Congratulations on the raise!
Now on the promotion; pay isn't everything... as you aptly put it as far as responsibility in a crucial area is concerned.
If you can handle the challenge, I'd say go for it. I love challenges that stretch me, and mold my character. Pay is also not bad there, either!
I'm sure that there's lots to "think over" before you decide. Sounds like life is dealing you a couple of good hands.

Arc: I sort of enjoy just being the worker bee with no real responsibilities, but that will only go so far till I bore of having no challange. As far as getting the raise, I should have been at this point when I was hired.
Hee_Haw: It is a cruicial area that will demand more than it did frozen foods. Just like yourself, I think I need that extra challenge to keep me going. Hopefully this streak of good luck continues.
mrbkkt1: oh yeah, rancid is putting it lightly. Milk that curdles, cheese that grows hairs...lol, you must have some experiences being in the restaurant business. Nah, I don't want a management position, been there and done that. This position is basically running the dairy department. I don't have anyone under me, just people that work with me. Perhaps in a few years, I might want to go back into management.Posted 12-26-2007 at 11:46 AM by Altivec

Re: Finally Official
Dammit, I KNEW there was a reason milk is so expensive!
Like Mike and Kyle said, money isn't everything, and the more you make in a job, typically the higher your stress level. At the end of this month, I will walk away from a $50,000 per year job (whoop dee), not because I can afford to (hell, I still need to eat, pay rent, etc.), but with the way the rest of my life outside of work has fallen into a bit of a shambles, I really can't afford not to.
You're still young, but when you get to my ripe old age, you sometimes have to give yourself a gut-check and ask yourself what really is important to you.Posted 01-07-2008 at 01:06 PM by Kreggae
