There are many questions as to what's going on in our push for temporary and permanent racing facilities. Although there will be an expanded menu with more information to come, OMAC would like to share with you a very preliminary design sketch of one possible temporary solution for our displaced racers.
OMAC is currently working hand-in-hand with Save Oahu's Race Tracks, LLC and George Grace Jr. on designing a multi-purpose, temporary facility that can support all of the previous forms of motorsports that occurred at Hawaii Raceway Park. Save Oahu's Race Tracks, LLC has acquired the lease to a 35 acre parcel of land located in Kalaeloa, Oahu, Hawaii and the intent is to build a racetrack however they can. We support them in their efforts and have since making the announcement in our 1st Quarter Meeting Minutes for 2008.
Chris Messer, General Manager for both Drift Session and the Super Lap Series, has been hard at work for the past few months designing and re-designing the potential layout for this facility. He has taken great pains to listen to suggested input from our local and national contacts, organizers, racers, and enthusiasts like you. Designing a multi-purpose facility on such a small parcel of land has been a lesson in compromise and understanding of each form of motorsports' needs. Be it Cycle Road Racing, Stock Car Racing, Drifting, Drag Racing, etc., great pains have been taken to accomodate everyone's needs. We will work with what we have...
It is time to set aside our differences and work together for the good of our community. OMAC and Save Oahu's Race Tracks have taken that step. We encourage everyone to do the same.
We hope that you enjoy this sneak peek of what may be a possible solution for our displaced community. There are many hurdles yet to come, and this is only a glimpse, and a hope of what could be. This is not reality...yet. And there have been, and will be many changes made in the coming future. But we hope that with our entire community of motorsports enthusiasts, and their support, that we can make something like this come to fruition. We need your support. Contact your local city and state representatives, and let them know that you support us in our efforts to BUILD THE TRACK!
