You guys are making me miss my doggies!

I have a min-pin and a full size Dobbie.... our Dobbie thinks she is still a puppy at 100lbs or so.... funny we took her to the park once and my son took off to run with her. She caught him and did a classic police dog takedown on his shoulder without ever breaking the skin. I was freaked out - and my son was a little shocked at being whipped to the ground... but the dog knew it was play time since she never bit down - it was kinda funny; even though I had to lay down the law for my girl and let her know that taking kids to the ground is not the right way to play.

Point is she look ferocious and "looks" like she is playing rough - but she knows that it is not serious. Overall, her and my son beat on each other like brothers; but no one ever gets hurt.

I wouldn't do it personally, the breeders generally do it automatically.

Then again I circumcised my son, which has ZERO medical benefit - sometimes tradition is tradition...

If you gonna call someone out for outdated traditions, might as well include them all... otherwise your just being a hypocrite.

well I'm off to that popular state hiking trail now. You know, the one where miss kombers got chased by that pit 2x ago at the far parking lot. And dumb dog advanced on me in the main parking lot last time.

what I mean to say is I wish the I love pits ppl could bring their kids today. I would love to watch that unfold as dumb dog comes around the corner. And remember it would only because some dip couldn't put their chetty dog on a leash.

Hooray its not the 4th of July today. City services might actually be able to pick this turd up and do away w/ it(before some kid gets mauled). If I see it today.

we had a Dobie too - Great dog

He was 96 lbs and could lay in the driveway and no one would even get out of their car. Excellent theft protection - kept the Jehova's away as well.

the brown one's were trouble.

^^Awww! The chocolate colored one looks soooo adorable! My MIL had a mini-pin that was choco colored--natural ears and tail (ears would stand up with the tips flopped down). She was the cutest little thing and so good with people and kids. NOT what I expected out of a little dog (normally they are so yappy and fiesty).

When I was here 11 years ago, the neighbors who lived behind me had a ridgeback/akita mix--he was the biggest baby ever! He would go outside and roll around on his back and wait for the kids to come out and play with him. He was like a small horse for the littlest of the kids and he loved it, too. If they slid off his back, he would go behind them and nudge his head under them so they could climb back on.

My youngest sister used to ride on a Great Dane when she was about 3-4 years old. A close family friend had a huge gray one named Esau and he was my sister's personal "horse". He loved her and always gave her "pony rides" whenever we came over to visit.

one morning he had a 10" rubber dong he was playing with.

We have no idea where he got it since we do not have a fenced yard - but it had to be one of the close by neighbors. I always wonder whose it was.

I made my wife take it away from him - no way was I going to touch it.

Dobies are cute dogs too...and just like pitbulls they LOOK scary/intimidating but yet they are the SWEETEST dogs...when I worked at the Vet there was a Dobie who would come in whenever his family went vacation and he was sooo cute...of course, when I stood next to him he was tall enough for me to ride him around like a horse hahaha...

german shepards are the same too....

I can attest to this. I helped out my neighbor who's dog (while chained and leashed) on their front lawn was attacked by 2 loose pit bulls. They nearly killed this mix breed dog. An elderly man was tending to one of the dogs locked on to the underside of the neck and repeatedly punched the nose. I grabbed a hold of the second pit who locked on to backside of the neck on my neighbors dog. I got a good grip with the loose skin on his neck and did the deed. Yes this works. Sad that my neighbors dog was attacked but she lived just traumatized.

However I've had encounters with loose pit bulls in Ewa but none have ever attacked me. They've tried to attack my dog, but even some of the other loose/stray dogs have done the same. They are all still afraid of you since you stand taller. Just like Kombi i growled at this huge male Pit that jumped out of the bushes and startled my Dad's dog (female pit). I quickly put myself between the 2 and talked very frimly to the male pit. Pretty much said "That's enough and go home".

But I am in no way against Pit Bulls I'll just acknowledge that they have a grip when they bite. It is the owners who allow or train Pits to act so violenty. As for the 2 loose pit bulls they belonged to another neighbor who is negligent since they've gotten loose on numerous occassions before.

Oh yeah don't crop the ears. Unless you plan on fighting the dog (which I'm not condoning) don't do it, just like water wind blowing also is bothersome to the dogs.

***edit***

I forgot to add break their biting habits early. Some form a biting problem or anxiety problem like my Dad's dog who has been biting everything even car bumpers.
