    Alright Nick Thanks!! :D
Yeah I kinda put it on the back-burner. It's a simple swap with some complications, and I'm starting to realize it's not worth the effort. It's a good car, with a lousy engine. Good-running engine, but with inherent leaking problems.

    Thanks again,

    Thomas

    Hey Nick,

So I thought maybe I could use a late-model 700-R4, or 200-4R...which should probably have an electronic-speedo hook-up...and would also mate up with the V8, and give me an O.D. to help out with the 4.88 gear. I'm not sure if that speedo plug-in on these transmissions would match up with the G.V. speedo. Would you know if the original G.V. trans speedo plug-in is hooked up to some kind of computer or stand-alone computer (under the hood)? Or is it something like the 700R4 and 2004R staright-up electronic hook-up? Not sure if I'm explaining myself well, but I'm hoping you can help me. I'm pretty sure my thoughts sound "all over the place", but I'm hoping you can pick-apart my ridiculously LONG question(s). Thanks for your time. If you're not sure, or can't find out, just say "I don't know". Eventually I'll figure it out.

    Thanks Nick,

    Thomas

    Hey Nick,
I was wondering if you could help me with something. I have a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara, with the original 2.5L V6, 3sp with .O.D. trans. and supposedly 4.88 factory geared rearend. I was thinking about converting to carbureted Chevy V8, but using the original trans. If I were able to find an adapter to match the V8-engine to the original trans (03-72LE, A44DE)...would the trans be able to function without the original engine in place? Or does the trans work hand-in-hand with it? I thought about putting an earlier GM-non-electronic trans (THM350), but with the 4.88 rear gear, it would be pulling ridiculous RPM on the freeway. On top of that, the original speedometer in the Grand Vitara doesn't have the typical screw-in speedo cable, and that is actually my MAIN concern, which is keeping me from going forward with this (that's why I was hoping to use the original trans). I'll continue in another message. Sorry, only 1000 characters are allowed, haha....
