| -nobody- HT Casual User Additional Info | Since you're so bored... maybe you can help me figure out why my car is so loose on the turns. I'm running new x-pattern tires on my HPI mini (fairly new with 2 races already). When i tried my junk bald tamiya tires, the card handled much much better. another question, what are the advantages of using a spool instead of a diff. My 1/8 serpent 950R is using spool and with front-one way and it handles awesome (on foam of course). I'm trying to duplicate the same thing on my HPI-Pro 4 electric 1/10 (w/ rubber tires for racing of course) and its terrible. I'm sure its tires but I'm no expert... any suggestion for handling tunning is much appreciated. I'm hook on the 1/12 scale handle.... easy setup and minimal tuning for me anyway. much mahalo. |

| Big Gun Moderator Additional Info | Nobody's posting...darnit...LOL Yeah that was strange on your car...is the suspension binding anywhere? What camber are you running? Spool+oneway vs diffs...Jon M would be best at answering that. From my limited knowledge here's what I think. Well the 1/8th also has a tire sized dynamic in that as well because the front tires are smaller and spinning faster then the rear tires because they are overdriven. One-ways tend to give more front bite on high speed tracks but are limited at low speed because of heavy braking. Spools are more durable then diffs and lighter. With the power of a 1/8th I think they eventually ended up with spools for durability and one-ways up front to counter act the push a spool will give you. If you notice 1/8ths also tend to run a good amount of toe out up front as well. Traction wise I think properly set up differentials would probably be better but that is not so easy to achieve and maybe not durable enough for 1/8th. I used to tune much of my F201's handling in the diffs, typically running a tighter rear diff then front which seemed to keep the rear a bit better planted for me. |

| Kamikaze HT Casual User Additional Info | I have heard that the spool in the front on the Pro4 is supposed to be the hot setup for running on asphalt. Been thinking about trying it myself? Maybe you need to wear out your X-Patterns more?hehehe My X-Patterns work better now and they are near slicks!!! HEHEHEHE Maybe run a softer suspension setup? |

| Cruncher HT Casual User Additional Info | Try www.rct.jp look for a section called RCT-TV on the left column. There are some vids on Tamiya Grand Prix. I think there is a F103 section as well. |

I think spool is overkill for the power that we run in. It will also take a toll on your front tires. In general, the faster your car gets, the more push you want for stability. I think that's why the mod class guys run diff or spool. I went with front diff so I have full brakes when I need it. Are you running modern tires? I let Avery try my sorex, and he loved it. | |

| Big Gun Moderator Additional Info | cool vids thanks for the links...the Japan races though apear to have some sort of bridgeless transponder loop in the parking lot race. I'm curious how they did that. The cars don't seem to have that audible bump when they pass the timing tent. |

| -nobody- HT Casual User Additional Info | Hey thanks for responding and for your comments. I'm not sure what kind of tires I have. Its a use set from a while back. I'll probaby end up picking up new set of Sorex tires. I'm going to try and move the spool in the front and see if it makes a big difference. The PRO-4 is a nice car but it requires some tuning. Unlike the 1/12 which for is minimal tuning, the 1/12 handles so smooth. Quote:
