Nope, but you do need a drivers license.

Helmets are available for loan also. Just bring a car that can pass a tech inspection (by me!) so - no wheel spacers without longer lug nuts, nothing loose in the engine bay i.e. battery flopping around, radiator not securely strapped down, etc, no steel belt showing on tires, and mostly basic safety things. Don't leave unsecured stereo equipment and the like in also.

oh shoot, I gotta screw my amp down now before i fail my own insepction!

Eek, uncapped will probably be allowed unless we run into noise restrictions at the stadium. If possible tho, can you put a muffler/resonator on it if it's so loud you need ear plugs? If you were at SuperLap, my Rabbit was too loud.. I needed ear plugs inside the car!

We might want to get some clarification from Curtis and the others in the Council of Twelve on that one. I know at some events (on the mainland that is) they have decibel meters set up at a point in the track. If you're over a certain db level you're given a chance to fix it - run by again with your junk all loud and your run gets tossed I think.

Loud is good...but too loud makes for unfriendly neighbors. Thankfully at HRP there were no houses for a while, yes? Over at the Stadium...eek.

Yea, heard on the news they were "thinking" about August 3rd... ummm - that's kinda soon. Any word on if this is a set date. I haven't received anything in email from SCCA yet.

There's no way SCCA can or will compete with the Swap Meet. That thing has dibs on the weekend, no doubt.

I just confirmed there is NOT an event on August 3rd. The dates are tentatively scheduled and will be announced later. They are still working out the details.... but it's looking good. Now I gotta order tires.... grrrrr. Wasn't planning on that this soon!

No, it should be on a Sunday. The swap meet isn't large enough to even touch that parking lot.

Sorry... they will more than likely be held on a Sunday. That's a day MOST of us have off. When I took a 4 year break from racing, my work schedule was one of the reasons. I used to work every weekend - both days - and I missed out on alot. Once I got married, I changed all that. Family (and racing!!) are too important to miss!!

...wouldn't MOST people have a Saturday off too? I would think you could get the people that would normally have to go to church too by having it on a Saturday.

I'd say...if possible...have it on both days, alternating.

I got some info on the exhaust noise issue.
From the SCCA Rule book (located here: http://scca.org/_FileLibrary/File/2006_solo_rules.pdf )
Section 3.5 states:
Adequate mufflers are required for Solo events. The criterion of
“adequacy” is not what the exhaust system consists of, but the
sound level. Any car deemed by the Event Chairman or his
designated representative to be excessively loud shall not compete
without acceptable modifications installed on the car.

Also, from Section 3.3.3 B 13:
Exhaust must exit behind driver or to the side of the car.

Yay ambiguous rules!

Sounds like it was written by the State of Hawaii for Recon inspectors.

Haha yeh, basically, it means Curtis is God when it comes to that ruling, and the tech inspectors carry down that power.
Don't show up uncapped or ridiculously loud is the main point.

Roll bars for convertables would be good too!
